The Fake News Media is CRAZY, or just plain CORRUPT! The United States has completely destroyed Iran’s Military, including their entire Navy and Air Force, and everything else. Their Leadership is DEAD! The Strait of Hormuz will soon be open, and the empty ships are rushing to the United States to “load up.” But, if you listen to the Fake News, we’re losing! The Fake News Media has lost total credibility, not that they had any to begin with. Because of their massive Trump Derangement Syndrome (Sometimes referred to as TDS!), they love saying that Iran is “winning” when, in fact, everyone knows that they are LOSING, and LOSING BIG! Their Navy is gone, their Air Force is gone, their Anti Aircraft apparatus is nonexistent, Radar is dead, their Missile and Drone Factories have been largely obliterated along with the Missiles and Drones themselves and, most importantly, their longtime “Leaders” are no longer with us, praise be to Allah! The only thing they have going is the threat that a ship may “bunk” into one of their sea mines which, by the way, all 28 of their mine dropper boats are also lying at the bottom of the sea. We’re now starting the process of clearing out the Strait of Hormuz as a favor to Countries all over the World, including China, Japan, South Korea, France, Germany, and many others. Incredibly, they don’t have the Courage or Will to do this work themselves. Very interestingly, however, empty Oil carrying ships from many Nations are all heading to the United States of America to LOAD UP with Oil. Thank you for your attention to this matter! An Illegal Alien Criminal from Haiti, who was released into our Country by the WORST President in History, Crooked Joe Biden, and the Radical Democrats in Congress, just beat an innocent woman to death with a hammer at a gas station in Florida. The video of her brutal slaying is one of the most vicious things you will ever see. This animal was allowed to stay here because the Biden Administration granted him, and all Haitians, “Temporary Protective Status,” a massively abused and fraudulent program which my Administration is working to terminate, but Deranged Liberal District Court Judges are standing in our way. This one killing should be enough for these Radical Judges to STOP impeding my Administration’s Immigration Policies, and allow us to END THIS SCAM ONCE AND FOR ALL. To my fellow Republicans, and frankly all Common Sense Americans, NEVER FORGET that Joe Biden and the Democrat Party turned the United States of America into a dumping ground, allowing Tens of MILLIONS of Criminals, Lunatics, and the Mentally Insane from all over the World to pour into our Country, totally unvetted and unchecked through our wide Open Borders. As I’ve said all along, if you import the Third World, you become the Third World, and that is what happened over the four years of Democrat Control. We are rapidly trying to reverse this decline through Deportations, but if the Democrats are ever given another chance at power, they will immediately REOPEN the Border, and allow America to once again be a Safe Haven for Criminals. Please say a prayer for this innocent woman’s family. We will ensure quick and severe JUSTICE is served in this case! I don’t recommend you watch this tape, because it is so terrible, but felt I had an obligation to put it up so that people can see what Democrats are protecting, and wanting to come into our Country, even now, after all we’ve been through. Again, viewer discretion advised — Not for children! President DONALD J. TRUMP

The Wall Street Journal, one of the worst and most inaccurate “Editorial Boards” in the World, stated that I “declared premature victory in Iran.” Actually, it is a Victory, and there’s nothing “premature” about it! Because of me, IRAN WILL NEVER HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON and, very quickly, you’ll see Oil start flowing, with or without the help of Iran and, to me, it makes no difference, either way. I know why Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, Candace Owens, and Alex Jones have all been fighting me for years, especially by the fact that they think it is wonderful for Iran, the Number One State Sponsor of Terror, to have a Nuclear Weapon — Because they have one thing in common, Low IQs. They’re stupid people, they know it, their families know it, and everyone else knows it, too! Look at their past, look at their record. They don’t have what it takes, and they never did! They’ve all been thrown off Television, lost their Shows, and aren’t even invited on TV because nobody cares about them, they’re NUT JOBS, TROUBLEMAKERS, and will say anything necessary for some “free” and cheap publicity. Now they think they get some “clicks” because they have Third Rate Podcasts, but nobody’s talking about them, and their views are the opposite of MAGA — Or I wouldn’t have won the Presidential Election in a LANDSLIDE. MAGA agrees with me, and just gave CNN a 100% Approval Rating of “TRUMP,” not Hand Flailing Fools like Tucker Carlson, who couldn’t even finish College, he was a broken man when he got fired from Fox, and he’s never been the same — Perhaps he should see a good psychiatrist! Or Megyn Kelly, who nastily asked me the now famous, “Only Rosie O’Donnell,” question, or “Crazy” Candace Owens, who accuses the Highly Respected First Lady of France of being a man, when she is not, and will hopefully win lots of money in the ongoing lawsuit. Actually, to me, the First Lady of France is a far more beautiful woman than Candace, in fact, it’s not even close! Or Bankrupt Alex Jones, who says some of the dumbest things, and lost his entire fortune, as he should have, for his horrendous attack on the families of the Sandy Hook shooting victims, ridiculously claiming it was a hoax. These so-called “pundits” are LOSERS, and they always will be! Now Fake News CNN, The Failing New York Times, and all of the other Radical Left “News” Organizations, are “hailing” them, and giving them “positive” press for the first time in their lives. They’re not “MAGA,” they’re losers, just trying to latch on to MAGA. As President, I could get them on my side anytime I want to, but when they call, I don’t return their calls because I’m too busy on World and Country Affairs and, after a few times, they go “nasty,” just like Marjorie “Traitor” Brown, but I no longer care about that stuff, I only care about doing right for our Country. MAGA is about WINNING and STRENGTH in not allowing Iran to have Nuclear Weapons. MAGA is about MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, and these people have no idea how to do that, BUT I DO, because THE UNITED STATES IS NOW THE “HOTTEST” COUNTRY ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD! President DONALD J. Iran-US talks in Islamabad end without a deal after 21 hours due to excessive US demands

The flags of Pakistan, Iran, and the United States
The negotiations between Iran and the United States have come to an end without striking a deal after 21 hours of discussions in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said on Sunday that the two sides reached a consensus on some issues, but they held different views regarding 2-3 important matters.

“Finally, the talks did not reach an agreement,” he noted.

He also described the fresh round of Iran-US negotiations, which lasted for 24 or 25 hours, as the longest over the past year.....

[quote]

The discussions took place following the 40-day imposed war on Iran in an atmosphere of distrust and suspicion, he emphasized, adding, “Therefore, it was not expected that the talks would reach a consensus.”

Meanwhile, Baqaei said that the talks covered some new issues with their own complexities, such as the Strait of Hormuz.

He further stressed that diplomacy never ends, as it is a tool to preserve national interests.

In any situation, he said, the diplomatic apparatus should pursue the rights and interests of the Iranian nation.

“Diplomacy, alongside those defending the homeland, stands ready for all kinds of sacrifices.”

The spokesman also thanked the Pakistani government and people for hosting the talks, saying contacts will continue between Tehran, Islamabad, and other friends in the region.

Frozen assets: Iran’s non-negotiable condition for talks with US in Islamabad

As negotiations between Iran and the United States draw closer in Islamabad, one central issue dominating discussions is the release of Iran's frozen assets.

Amidst the flurry of diplomatic developments, conflicting reports have emerged regarding the progress on this critical front. While one Western news agency has suggested that the funds have been unlocked, a US broadcaster has denied the claim.

The discrepancies in these reports cast a shadow of uncertainty over the talks, with the Iranian delegation, led by Speaker of Parliament Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, currently in Islamabad to assess the situation.

According to Iranian sources, intermediaries have relayed messages indicating that the funds have been freed, but Iran’s official team has yet to confirm the claim. The question remains whether this key condition will be satisfied before formal talks commence.

The accumulated distrust from the past, especially before the Islamic Revolution in Iran, has posed significant challenges for both sides.

Recently, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized in an interview that gaining Iran's trust is not an easy task, as Iranian funds have been frozen in various countries for years due to actions by the United States.

While Iran has upheld its commitments, the US has failed to fulfill its obligations, and it must take concrete steps to build trust.

For Iran, the release of its frozen funds is not just a matter of financial restitution; it symbolizes a longstanding grievance that stretches back decades.

Image
Unraveling Iran’s puzzle of assets frozen abroad. Repatriating Iran’s debts is one side of the coin, but the other side is protecting the economy from the adverse effects of sanctions.

Iranian officials have consistently emphasized two major red lines in their negotiations with the US: first, a comprehensive ceasefire in Lebanon and an end to Israeli attacks and second, the full unfreezing of Iranian assets abroad.

With neither of these conditions yet met, Tehran remains circumspect about engaging in dialogue with Washington, as they know well that such talks would be futile without tangible progress on these core issues.

The story of Iran’s frozen assets is intertwined with the country’s tumultuous relationship with the United States, that has evolved dramatically since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

The roots of the dispute go back to the aftermath of the revolution, when Iran overthrew the Shah’s regime, which had been closely aligned with Washington. The US, in retaliation, began a series of sanctions that included freezing Iranian assets.

The first wave of sanctions against Iran began in 1979, under President Jimmy Carter, when the US froze $11 billion of Iranian assets. The situation only escalated from there.

The assets were not just limited to cash but also included valuable goods and property, many of which were located in US-controlled territories or in the possession of American companies.

These assets, worth billions of dollars, remained locked away for decades, becoming a symbol of the larger geopolitical struggle between the two nations.

In 1981, an agreement brokered by Algeria between the US and Iran aimed to resolve the issue of frozen assets. However, that agreement fell apart due to American actions, and the issue continued to fester.

Various attempts by Iran to reclaim its assets over the years have yielded limited results, with only partial reimbursements made.

Iran’s frustration is compounded by the perception that the US has treated its assets as collateral in a broader geopolitical contest. The country’s blocked funds are not merely an economic issue but a symbol of Washington’s enduring hostility toward Tehran.

US seizes $7mn of Iran assets in latest ‘highway robbery’
The US government says it has seized $7 million in Iranian assets for “victims of terrorism”.
https://www.presstv.ir/Detail/2021/01/0 ... -sanctions

Even as the 2015 Iran nuclear deal did lead to the lifting of many sanctions, the recovery of Iran’s assets was not fully addressed, leaving billions of dollars still held in foreign banks.

The difficulty of navigating the frozen assets issue was made even more complex by the withdrawal of the US from the deal under President Donald Trump in 2018.

The exit reimposed severe sanctions on Iran, which led to further complications regarding its frozen assets. Iran’s diplomatic efforts to regain access to these funds have been repeatedly thwarted by US policies, leaving a bitter legacy of unmet financial claims.

In recent years, there have been some notable developments. For instance, the release of $7 billion in Iranian assets from South Korea, after being blocked for years due to US sanctions, marked a partial victory for Iran.

However, the process was far from straightforward. The money was initially frozen in South Korean banks after the US imposed its “maximum pressure” sanctions, which cut off Iranian access to its foreign currency reserves.

It was only after a series of complicated negotiations and the need for the funds to be used for humanitarian purposes, including purchasing medicine, that a portion was finally released.

But even that was not without its challenges. Iran ultimately received a reduced sum, as South Korea claimed to have experienced a devaluation of its currency, which meant that the total amount returned to Iran fell short by nearly a billion dollars.

In 2024, a new chapter emerged in the saga of Iran’s blocked assets. As part of a broader prisoner swap agreement, the US and Iran reached an arrangement that allowed Iran to access $6 billion of its frozen funds, which had been held in South Korean banks.

The funds were transferred to Qatari banks to facilitate non-sanctionable transactions for Iran, including the purchase of humanitarian aid.

However, the situation has become further complicated by geopolitical developments. Following the first US-Israeli war on Iran on October 7, 2024, some US media outlets reported that Washington had instructed Qatar to block Iran’s access to the funds.

The latest twist in the ongoing saga underscores the volatility of the situation, with Iran’s financial resources subject to the whims of shifting diplomatic and geopolitical priorities.

[b][size=110]For Iran, its assets represent the economic sovereignty of a nation that has long been at odds with the US and the West. For the US, the continued blockage of the funds serves as a political tool in the broader strategy of exerting pressure on Iran.

The complexity of the situation is amplified by the diversity of countries involved in holding Iran’s funds. From South Korea and Qatar to China, Iraq, and Japan, Iran has significant amounts of money tied up in various nations.

As long as the funds remain blocked, any negotiations between Iran and the US will be constrained by the shadows of past grievances and the unfulfilled promises of financial restitution.

So, there you have it, the meeting went well, most points were agreed to, but the only point that really mattered, NUCLEAR, was not. Effective immediately, the United States Navy, the Finest in the World, will begin the process of BLOCKADING any and all Ships trying to enter, or leave, the Strait of Hormuz. At some point, we will reach an “ALL BEING ALLOWED TO GO IN, ALL BEING ALLOWED TO GO OUT” basis, but Iran has not allowed that to happen by merely saying, “There may be a mine out there somewhere,” that nobody knows about but them. THIS IS WORLD EXTORTION, and Leaders of Countries, especially the United States of America, will never be extorted. I have also instructed our Navy to seek and interdict every vessel in International Waters that has paid a toll to Iran. No one who pays an illegal toll will have safe passage on the high seas. We will also begin destroying the mines the Iranians laid in the Straits. Any Iranian who fires at us, or at peaceful vessels, will be BLOWN TO HELL! Iran knows, better than anyone, how to END this situation which has already devastated their Country. Their Navy is gone, their Air Force is gone, their Anti Aircraft and Radar are useless, Khamenei, and most of their “Leaders,” are dead, all because of their Nuclear ambition. The Blockade will begin shortly. Other Countries will be involved with this Blockade. Iran will not be allowed to profit off this Illegal Act of EXTORTION. They want money and, more importantly, they want Nuclear. Iran promised to open the Strait of Hormuz, and they knowingly failed to do so. This caused anxiety, dislocation, and pain to many people and Countries throughout the World. They say they put mines in the water, even though all of their Navy, and most of their “mine droppers,” have been completely blown up. They may have done so, but what ship owner would want to take the chance? There is great dishonor and permanent harm to the reputation of Iran, and what’s left of their “Leaders,” but we are beyond all of that. As they promised, they better begin the process of getting this INTERNATIONAL WATERWAY OPEN AND FAST! Every Law in the book is being violated by them. I have been fully debriefed by Vice President JD Vance, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner, on the meeting that took place in Islamabad through the kind and very competent leadership of Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, of Pakistan. They are very extraordinary men, and continuously thank me for saving 30 to 50 million lives in what would have been a horrendous War with India. I always appreciate hearing that — The amount of Humanity spoken of is incomprehensible.

The meeting with Iran began early in the morning, and lasted throughout the night — Close to 20 hours. I could go into great detail, and talk about much that has been gotten but, there is only one thing that matters — IRAN IS UNWILLING TO GIVE UP ITS NUCLEAR AMBITIONS! In many ways, the points that were agreed to are better than us continuing our Military Operations to conclusion, but all of those points don’t matter compared to allowing Nuclear Power to be in the hands of such volatile, difficult, unpredictable people. My three Representatives, as all of this time went by, became, not surprisingly, very friendly and respectful of Iran’s Representatives, Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, Abbas Araghchi, and Ali Bagheri, but that doesn’t matter because they were very unyielding as to the single most important issue and, as I have always said, right from the beginning, and many years ago, IRAN WILL NEVER HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON!

Transcript

We have major breaking news this morning. President Trump in the aftermath of the failed talks in Islamabad last night has declared a naval blockade of Iran. This is literally minutes ago. President Trump on truth social writes:

So, there you have it, the meeting went well, most points were agreed to, but the only point that really mattered, NUCLEAR, was not. Effective immediately, the United States Navy, the Finest in the World, will begin the process of BLOCKADING any and all Ships trying to enter, or leave, the Strait of Hormuz.

That is really important. I'll get to that in just a second.

I have also instructed our Navy

this is this is even more important.

I have also instructed our Navy to seek and interdict every vessel in International Waters that has paid a toll to Iran. No one who pays an illegal toll will have safe passage on the high seas.

This is piracy.

One imagines he's going to put more pressure on NATO to join in.

Iran will not be allowed to profit off this Illegal Act of EXTORTION. They want money and, more importantly, they want Nuclear. Additionally and, at an appropriate moment, we are fully “LOCKED AND LOADED,” and our Military will finish up the little that is left of Iran!

So, pretty much in in broad terms there, President Trump has just flat out said the war is about to begin, and we are now ramping things up a couple of notches, not even one notch really, because when you take a look at the the statement that we're going to blockade everything going in and coming out, that by itself is a major escalation. And then that they're also going to hunt down any vessels that have already paid the toll and been passed through that Iran allowed. You can see where now you're talking about potentially other countries being involved like China. Many of the ships that have gone through have gone through with a toll being paid in Chinese yuan, and many of them were specifically headed to China. Is President Trump willing and ready to actually potentially bring China into this? That's what's on the table here.

And and listen, there is no -- international law has long since been destroyed. So there's really no point in talking about that. But there's certainly no international law that allows you to unilaterally interdict any country to just say I don't like the policies being employed here and I don't like what they're doing. So I'm going to go to the open seas and anybody whose ships are doing something I don't like, I'm going to interdict them. That's piracy, and that's what we're talking about here.

But listen, the price of oil has been held in check. It's been right around $100 a barrel. Every time it gets a little above that, Trump does something or says something that calms the market down and brings it a little bit lower. It's been pretty successful at around $100 a barrel.

Now remember some of the key ways that he first of all relieved sanctions on Russia so that they could export more. And then the one of the bigger surprises early in the war, he relieved a lot of the sanctions on Iran itself, to allow them to ship out more oil. And that had its effect, that it lowered the the price of oil. But here's the problem. He also gave money to Iran, and some confidence that they had the ability to actually control the strait. Apparently that's something that President Trump has come to agree with.

Now, yesterday there was an interesting statement by Richard Haas, the chief of the Council on Foreign Relations. This was put out by Dropside News. Watch this. Richard Haas, head of the council on foreign relations, said Washington is not negotiating from strength -- and this is prior to
yesterday's talks -- and that Iran has emerged from the war with greater leverage on Hormuz. He suggests Washington should tell Iran that the strait of Hormuz can be open to all, or closed to all. So you see that nearly identical phrase Trump just used proposes an international governing commission, including Iran and Gulf states, to oversee transit through hormuz, open to tolls in revenue sharing as part of the framework. Crucially Haas says that if Iran refuses, the US should consider blockading Hormuz strait from his his comments here you see. So Trump apparently absolutely listened to
that. His view is that Washington should not accept Iran's sole control over Hormuz, but also realistically cannot exclude Iran from the trade. Haas says that the war has made a return to the pre-war status quo impossible, and the US has lost the war in a strategic and political sense.

One wonders if President Trump is listening to that one as well. So, we can imagine when the markets open up tomorrow, they're going to be in a panic, because now you're taking ALL the oil off. He says nothing in or out. And listen, one of the things I've been saying over and over is that the pressure on the United States to get this over with is because the price of oil, but also on the urea, helium, aluminum, all kinds of other things that are supposed to be coming out too, which has direct impact on what happens in Asia, in Africa, and in Europe. It drives the price up everywhere. And that's why I said he's under the gun, that ticking clock, so to speak, that he has to get something negotiated to get this thing over with, and get the the flow back open again by whatever means.

And I had mentioned before that my concern was that he would not do what is diplomatically necessary that would allow Iran to come out with a victory, or even the perception of a victory. But then he also couldn't go the other direction. He couldn't say, "Well, then forget it. We'll just amp it up a little bit, and we'll go back in with more bombs, more missiles." I don't know, a naval blockade and that somehow that's going to force Iran when nothing else did. But it's not going to. Iran certainly has foreseen this. I can't imagine that they would be shocked by this. I'm sure they don't like it. They definitely won't like it, because now the revenue that they were getting is going to be severed. But that's something that they probably foresaw, and I have no doubt have the ability to see this is really a game of chicken right now, because the question is going to be who can take this stress, and this pressure war.

There will no doubt be a lot more stress and pressure on the Iranians. No question about it. Because the question is what happens if it doesn't work? What happens if your effort to bring more military power does not force capitulation? Now you have added to the pressure that's going to make that oil price go up. Now you have stopped anything, even the trickle that was going to 10, I think, ships per day coming through, instead of the normal 100 or 130. So that is going to cause even more problems. And if Iran just says, "Okay, bring it on," then what's he going to do? What if he comes in with a lot more firepower? He says, "We're going to bring even more missiles, and more bombs, and we're going to blow up even more ships." What if that doesn't open it up? Because it's a political decision now more than a military one, for the Iranian side to keep that strait closed.

As I've told you, they've got a half a dozen different ways they can keep it closed. Not just mines. That's only one of them, and not even the most effective in my view. There's plenty of things that they can do, and if they have said that they're willing to suffer, and to pay whatever price, there's a pretty good chance that they can outlast Trump. They can probably go months, and I mean their mentality is used to suffering. They physically have suffered a lot because of what the West has done, and the United States in particular, the United States and Israel. They've done this for a long time. It's very unwise to say, "Let's see who can suffer the longest." That's what he's done here in this game of chicken I'm talking about. This is a test of wills between President Trump, and the leadership in Iran. And it's between the peoples of Iran, and the peoples of the West, not even just the United States, who can suffer the most the longest. Based on track records, I would argue that's what the Iranian side can do.

And listen, this can't be a surprise to anybody. I mean, let's take a look actually how we got here. Because this was President Trump yesterday prior to the start of these negotiations, where he kind of laid out where his mind was.

Look, regardless, we win. Regardless what happens, we win. We've totally defeated that country, and so let's see what happens. Maybe they make a deal, maybe they don't. Is it good from the standpoint of America? We win. One of the things that's happening is that boats are sailing up and heading out to our country, big beautiful tankers, and we're loading them up with oil and gas and everything else. And it's pretty beautiful thing to see.

So yeah, he said he wasn't even worried about that. We're going to win no matter what. So this already told you that his idea is basically we're going in telling them here's the deal., accept this deal, or we're going to kill you. I mean, that's been the modus operandi for a long time, but certainly in this term, President Trump is used to getting his way, and it's largely succeeded. But now that he's run into an immovable object, he doesn't seem to have the wherewithall, the brain cells, the cognitive ability, I don't know, you name it, to have anyone say no to him. And so you see this near tantrum today. "Oh yeah, you don't want to do what I say, how about this? How about a a blockade? How about we'll blow up any ships on the open water?"

All this is designed to put pressure on the Iranians. But you're seeing that the Iranian side, listen, this is the deputy speaker of the Iranian parliament, the deputy to Galibah, who we'll see in just a second.
And so interesting on the bottom, you see on the bottom bullet there, he said second to bottom, he said, "Despite sanctions, Iran's oil exports have surpassed 1.6.6 million barrels today, and the country's oil is practically sanctions proof. Well, that may have been one of the things that pushed President Trump over the top. You saw Richard Haas's comments that gave him the idea, but maybe when he saw this, he said, "Oh, you think you're sanctions proof? How about this? I'll just shut all of it off. Now you get 0.0 barrels per day." But then the last point there, he said, "The Iranian nation will not retreat even an inch from its demands." They did not. They're not fools. They're not stupid. And they know that if you are boastful in front of President Trump, that he's going to capitulate. So they certainly didn't expect that. One imagines that they actually expected him to do something like he's doing, but but certainly not to surrender to it.

You have Ghalibaf himself who says that the delegates raised a forward-looking initiative during ceasefire negotiations in Pakistan, but the United States failed to gain the trust of the delegation in the talks. So he's saying, "Listen, you have to come to our terms here. You have to rise up and do something. You have to earn our trust, and when we get it, then we'll consider something else." They knew what a petulant man President Trump is. So there's no doubt that they expected something like this. They had to have. So then we're getting into the test of wills. Then Vice President Vance came out of these long talks, and in his comments afterward, I think that he again revealed that this was never about a negotiation. This was about a requirement on the Iranian side for surrender. "We just could not get to a situation where the Iranians were willing to accept our terms. I think that we were quite flexible. We were quite accommodating. The president told us, 'You need to come here in good faith and make your best effort to get a deal.' We did that, and unfortunately we weren't able to make any headway."

Preston.

Mr. Vice President, how often did you communicate with President Trump throughout the negotiations? There were reports that there were multiple rounds where there were breaks in between
negotiations. How often did you communicate with the president throughout those rounds? And what was he saying as you were going through these negotiations that you said fell short?

Yeah, obviously we were talking to the president consistently. I don't know how many times we talked to him. A half dozen times, a dozen times. We obviously also talked to Admiral Cooper, to Pete,
to Marco, to the entire national security team. We talked to Scott Bessent a number of times. So look, we were constantly in communication with the team, because we were negotiating in good faith. And we leave here with a very simple proposal, a method of understanding that is our final and best offer. We'll see if the Iranians accept it.

Okay, that's not diplomacy. "We left here with our final and best offer." I mean, it took years to negotiate an end to the Vietnam War. It took a year and a half to negotiate an end to the Korean War.
And you come in here in one day, one 21-hour day, and you say, "We want to negotiate in good faith." That's not negotiating. That is saying, "Here's my terms. Accept it or we're going to kill you." And now, the Iranians said, "No, we're not going to accept that." And so now, President Trump has said,
"We're going to kill you. We're going to come in with our military; we're going to start hammering again, as soon as we get all the ammunition resupplied, which has been in the process ever since this ceasefire began, and now he's going to attack ships on the open sea, and attack anybody who tries to stop us. We're going to start demanding. That is a huge mistake. I hope he doesn't do it. I hope that's just bluster. Hopefully the leaders in the Navy will say, "No, Mr. president, you send your ships in there without the concurrence or the acquiescence of the Iranian side, you're going to get your ships sunk. You're going to get them attacked. You're not going to clear the mines. This may result in the Iranian side putting more mines in there, because if you shut it off, and say nobody's coming in, they may say fair enough, nobody's coming in or out now. And then now it's going to be a panic in the Gulf. Because already I showed you that chart yesterday, and I think that there's huge amounts of oil that's been already stopped by the Gulf nations. So that means that their income has been radically cut, and they're struggling mightily. They also need imports coming in, because they need all kinds of things for food, and other kinds of goods and requirements just for their survival as a nation. They depend upon that traffic coming in as much as we depend on the traffic coming out. Now President Trump has stopped all of it.

Now where is this going to go? In the near term, you have the Iranian side saying, yeah they're ready to go. Apparently, they were prepared before this, and now that the talks have apparently collapsed, they're ready to go.

But they're not the only ones. Additional information here. US intelligence shows that China is taking a more active role in the Iran war, apparently including shoulder fired missiles, China secretly taking an active stance in the war, allowing some companies to use chemicals, fuel, and components that can be used in dual purpose for war. What do you think they're going to do if you start attacking China's ships on the open waters that are bringing goods or oil to them? It's probably not going to go very well.

So, this could be escalated in nearly any way you want to look at it. This is the worst thing that the US could have done. It's can't be surprising to anybody, but this is not going to end well. Let me just categorically state this will not cause the Iranian side to capitulate. They're just not going to do it. It's not in their DNA. And they almost certainly foresaw this. It may have even been their plan to goad President Trump into doing something that would escalate this, because I think they know that militarily we can't suffer more than they can. That's the problem. Well, we're going to find out.

Well, listen, we appreciate you guys on a Sunday morning here, but I didn't want to let you go without at least giving you an update on this breaking news here. We're going to continue to follow this story at Daniel Davis deep dive. Anything further, you can count on us to bring it to you. Until then, we'll see you at the next time.

Key takeaways

• Iranian military commanders are pressuring Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei to revoke a fatwa banning the development of nuclear weapons in order to face down perceived threats from the West.
• Despite the fatwa against nuclear weapons, several senior Iranian officials are now pushing for the development of an atomic bomb, citing existential threats faced by the regime.
• The UK, France, and Germany have expressed concern over Iran's stockpile of highly enriched uranium, which they believe has no credible civilian justification, while Iran's president denies seeking nuclear weapons.

Iran’s supreme leader must revoke a fatwa banning the development of nuclear weapons if the regime is to survive, his top military commanders have said.

In an extraordinary intervention by leaders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was told that Iran must have nuclear weapons to face down “existential threats” from the West.

The Telegraph can reveal that several senior commanders have U-turned in recent months, since the election of Donald Trump, and are now pressing for the development of an atomic bomb.

“We have never been this vulnerable, and it may be our last chance to obtain one before it’s too late,” one official told The Telegraph

The fatwa.
– a religious ruling – was first mentioned at an International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) meeting in 2005. In it, Khamenei insisted that such weapons were “absolutely haram”, or forbidden by Islam.

It is the only constraint preventing the development of nuclear weapons, according to several Iranian officials – although exiles recently claimed that work was underway in the Islamic Republic to create nuclear missiles despite it.

An Iranian official told The Telegraph from Tehran, the capital: “The leader has forbidden negotiations with the Americans and the development of nuclear weapons, which seem to be the only ways for survival [of the regime], and he’s driving the regime toward collapse.”

“We have been just a few button presses away from building a nuclear weapon for some time now, but the pressures and justifications for having one are greater than ever.

“The existential threat we now face has led several senior commanders – who previously insisted on following the supreme leader’s guidance – to push for making an atomic weapon.”

The pressure on Khamenei from hardline politicians has been intensifying publicly in recent months.

Dozens of Iranian MPs last year urged their Supreme National Security Council to revise its nuclear policy.

One MP said Khamenei’s fatwa remained in place but suggested that, in Shia Islam, rulings can change “based on time and circumstances”.

Another MP said: “I believe we need to conduct a nuclear bomb test, and there is no other way for us.”

Kamal Kharazi, an adviser to Khamenei, said in November that the supreme leader’s fatwa was the only constraint on developing nuclear weapons.

He said: “If the Islamic Republic of Iran faces an existential threat, we would have no choice but to adjust our military doctrine. We already have the technical capabilities to produce weapons – only a religious decree forbidding nuclear weapons prevents us from doing so.”

On Wednesday, a Telegram channel associated with the IRGC claimed Iran had the technical ability to build nuclear weapons.

It wrote: “We don’t have a nuclear bomb, but if we want to, we will build one.”

A Member of Iran’s Basij paramilitary force told The Telegraph: “Why shouldn’t we have [a nuclear bomb]? It’s our absolute right, and it’s unfair to deny us.

“The world needs a shock to reset, and Iran would be doing it a favour by testing an atomic bomb. The West does not look at us in a good way. We need to change that.”

In November, MI6 chief Sir Richard Moore said: “Iran’s allied militias across the Middle East have suffered serious blows, but the regime’s nuclear ambitions continue to threaten all of us, especially friends of France and the UK in the Gulf region....”

Uranium stocks ‘have no civilian use’

In December, Britain, France and Germany said Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium had also reached “unprecedented levels, again without any credible civilian justification”.

In public, however, Iran’s president has denied a nuclear agenda. Masoud Pezeshkian told foreign ambassadors on Thursday: “War is not in our interest, and we are not seeking nuclear weapons.”

In an apparent reference to domestic hardliners, he added: “Even those who claim they want to do this cannot push us toward nuclear weapons.”

Ali Shamkhani, Mr Khamenei’s adviser, said this week: “Iran has never sought nuclear weapons and never will. However, it will fully defend its legal rights in political and technical dimensions with all its strength.”

Donald Trump’s return to the US presidency was another blow to Tehran.

Commanders of the IRGC fear the Islamic Republic’s supreme leader is pushing the regime towards collapse by blocking negotiations with the US, The Telegraph understands.

On Tuesday, Mr Trump restored his “maximum pressure” campaign on Iran, including efforts to stop it from obtaining a nuclear weapon by driving its oil exports down to zero.

The move restored Mr Trump’s tough stance from his first term, reversing what he saw as a weaker approach by Joe Biden, his Democratic predecessor.

The order restored Mr Trump’s first-term policy to strangle Iran’s economy through strict economic sanctions, hoping to force negotiations that would limit its nuclear and ballistic weapons programmes.

But the new round of “maximum pressure” is different, because Iran’s government is weaker, and its economy more fragile.

On Wednesday, Mr Trump said he would still like to make a deal with Iran, posting on his Truth Social network: “I would much prefer a verified nuclear peace agreement, which will let Iran peacefully grow and prosper.

“We should start working on it immediately, and have a big Middle East celebration when it is signed and completed. God bless the Middle East!”

Ayatollah dismisses negotiations

Khamenei, however, dismissed the possibility of negotiations or a deal with the US on Friday.

He told army commanders in Tehran: “We must understand this correctly – they should not pretend that if we sit down at the negotiating table with that government, problems will be solved.”

He added that “no problem” would be solved by negotiating with America and to do so would not be “smart, wise or honourable”.

He warned: “They [US officials] talk about us and threaten us. If they threaten us, we will threaten them. If they act on their threats, we will act on our threats. If they violate our nation’s security, we will violate their security with no doubt.”

Meanwhile, Iranian citizens, who bear the brunt of the regime’s regional and nuclear ambitions, expressed frustration over the government’s mismanagement.

A resident of Tehran said: “We are hungry, and an atomic bomb won’t fill our stomachs.

“We struggle every day, all because our authorities have ‘ambitions’. Their ambitions should be improving our lives, not making life harder for everyone in the region.”

“We no longer go to restaurants or take trips outside Tehran,” he added. “Instead, we’ve started saving for our daughter as she will be starting school in a few months.”

Ridiculous’: Iran army’s navy chief mocks Trump threats to block Hormuz strait

Rear Admiral Shahram Irani, the commander of Iran Army's Navy.

Iran’s Navy commander has dismissed President Donald Trump’s latest threats to impose a naval blockade on the Strait of Hormuz as “very ridiculous and laughable,” saying the Iranian military is closely monitoring every move of the US fleet in the region.

“The brave men of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Navy are tracking and monitoring all movements of the aggressor US military in the region,” Rear Admiral Shahram Irani said in a statement carried by Iranian media.

“The threats of the US president following the humiliating defeat of his army in the third imposed war, a naval blockade on Iran, are very ridiculous and laughable.”

Trump announced on Sunday that he had ordered the US Navy to block the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway through which about 20 percent of the world’s oil passes.

The order came after high-level talks between Tehran and Washington in Islamabad failed to produce a deal.

The US president also warned that any ship that has paid a toll to Iran would be stopped in international waters.

Iran has placed restrictions on passage through the Strait of Hormuz since the US-Israeli war of aggression began on February 28.

The IRGC Navy has announced that the strait “will never return to its former state, especially for the US and Israel.”

Tehran has allowed vessels serving friendly nations to pass while barring ships affiliated with aggressor countries and their supporters.

The Iranian parliament has advanced draft legislation to impose transit fees in national currency and explicitly ban US and Israeli vessels.

Iran’s armed forces have launched hundreds of ballistic and hypersonic missiles, as well as drones, against American bases across West Asia and Israeli positions in the occupied territories.

Image
Key to Strait of Hormuz in Iran’s ‘capable hands’: Leader’s advisor. Velayati says the key to the Strait of Hormuz remains in Iran’s “capable hands.”

The US has acknowledged dozens of military casualties and significant equipment losses.

The threat of a US blockade came just hours after marathon negotiations between Iran and the United States in Pakistan’s capital ended without a breakthrough.

US Vice President JD Vance, who led the American delegation, said after the 20-hour session that it was now up to Iran to accept Washington’s “final, best” offer.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, however, said the US side had shown “maximalism, shifting goalposts, and blockade” when a deal was just inches away.

“Zero lessons earned,” Araghchi wrote on social media, implying that Washington had learned nothing from its failed confrontations with Iran.

Iran has repeatedly stated that it will not allow the US or Israel to dictate terms for the use of the Strait of Hormuz, which lies within its territorial waters.

Trump's war on Iran ‘single biggest mistake’ by any US president: Tucker Carlson
Sunday, 12 April 2026 9:40 PM [ Last Update: Sunday, 12 April 2026 9:40 PM ]

The rift between US President Donald Trump and former Fox News host Tucker Carlson continues to widen, with the latter saying that Trump’s decision to launch a war against Iran represents the greatest foreign policy blunder of any American leader in his lifetime.

In an interview broadcast April 12 on the BBC's "Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg," Carlson was asked whether he believes Trump is a "slave to Benjamin Netanyahu."

While stopping short of a simplistic characterization, he pointed squarely at the Israeli regime for steering the Trump administration into the unprovoked and illegal war.

"I don't think it is as simple as 'he is under the control of Netanyahu,' but you could certainly summarize it that way and you wouldn't be totally inaccurate," Carlson said.

He then delivered his most forceful indictment yet: "We know this because the single biggest mistake Trump – or any American president in my lifetime – has made was going to war with Iran in an effort to change its regime."

When the anchor noted that past presidents had at times "said no to Netanyahu," Carlson agreed without hesitation. "They did, and I wish our president had, but he didn't," he said.

Carlson went further, asserting that Israeli regime officials actively manipulated the United States into the war, saying he saw it personally, the way Tel Aviv steered Washington into a war “that hurts the United States and the world.”

On April 10, he told Newsmax that Trump is a "slave" to the Israeli regime and described the president's handling of the war against the Islamic Republic as "awful to watch."

"I've always liked Trump and still feel sorry for him, as I do for all slaves," Carlson said, adding that the president "can't make his own decisions" and is "hemmed in by other forces."

Ex-Fox News host and Trump aide slams US war propaganda against Iran. US media personality and former Fox News presenter Tucker Carlson, who is known to be close to President Donald Trump, slams US war propaganda against Iran.

His remarks come after Trump, in an April 9 social media post, ridiculed Carlson and other MAGA-aligned critics of the war as "low IQ," irrelevant, and publicity hungry.

"Nobody's talking about them, and their views are the opposite of MAGA − Or I wouldn't have won the Presidential Election in a LANDSLIDE," Trump wrote.

Of Carlson specifically, the president claimed, "he was a broken man when he got fired from Fox, and he's never been the same."

The war against Iran, which came in the middle of nuclear talks, has led to strong pushback from some prominent Trump-aligned media figures, as they question his decisions taken under the influence of the Zionist lobby in Washington.

Carlson called Trump's expletive-laden Easter Sunday threat against Iranian civilian infrastructure "a war crime" and "a moral crime" in the April 6 episode of "The Tucker Carlson Show."

Former GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene called for Trump to be removed from office under the 25th Amendment after the president threatened that "a whole civilization will die tonight" in an April 7 social media post.

Polls show the war against Iran is broadly unpopular, as it has incurred the US billions of dollars worth of costs without achieving any of its stated objectives.
